I have an urge to reason out saying I had no time to blog but the truth is I was far too lazy.(That's honesty for you)
After getting exhausted of all the means available to waste my time, I decided to rise from the ashes. This next post is about a day in the near past which was quite interesting because of contrasting emotions.
Science may have found a cure for most evils; but it has found no remedy for the worst of them all -- the apathy of human beings. - Helen Keller
Yet you might wonder why I insist on being a bit indifferent; well theres a reason...here goes :D
The actual story starts a few days back when my dad sent me a link to register for a seminar at the Le Meridian.(Thank You Dad!!!).
Initially I decided upon giving it a miss...what am I gonna do at a boring seminar with no friends at all!! But when my dad persisted on me attending it, I decided to ask my friends to accompany.
Come the next day, I presented this idea to my friends who surprisingly seemed excited about being there...well everything was falling into place. Now, there was this not explicitly stated plan to bike all the way to the hotel, and later enjoy on the way back...everything seemed so very awesome!!
"That" day dawned and I had a lot of work to finish before I could finally finish my day with that wonderful plan. By the time the clock struck 16:00, I already knew this was not going to be the best day.
1> Tackling professors is not easy you know, especially making them sign on a piece of paper which claims you are a super ideal student
2> Also, one of my friend had already backed out of the plan and decided that a bus would be a better transport, because now he has more friends coming, who do not acquisce with the original plan.
In the next 1 hour before we would be leaving, two more friends backed out, but this time with reasons absurd enough to fill me with anger and frustration as I could see the plan getting reduced to ashes. That left only me and another foolish guy like me, and poofs as we are not, we decided to use a bus as well.
Just as things seemed to be changing towards being better, they change, only to become even worse. The bus is stuck in traffic(read Powai traffic) and we were left thinking how the bike ride would have been much better...arrghh..salt to wounds. Well how bad could the day get!! Now, we got down at the wrong stop as well; already late for the seminar, we tried to find transport as we were more than a kilometer away from the hotel.
Here is where I learnt another lesson in indifference!
I found a rare taxi, but sweet as I am, decided against hiring the taxi cause he was not ready to accommodate an extra member. Later,I found myself walking along with my foolish friend, looking back to see those ungrateful fellows boarding the taxi.(Beat that indifference, anyone??)
Anger now reached a level I have not known before!
After walking for another 15 minutes, we could actually see the airport on the horizon now. With thoughts of is it worth all this trouble, we finally found an auto ready to transport us to the hotel!!
One positive from all this was that we reached the destination for a meager 10 bucks while the ungratefuls had to shell out 100 (Literally "pay for your sins :P")
This is where the things actually started changing for the better.
The hotel lobby and the receptionist made my day right there. The A.Q. of the former and H.Q. of the latter the highest ;)
Two hours later the seminar came to an end; we were hungry, and guess what!!
There was food for us...(Ah! God certainly watches)
The food served immediately struck a cord with my taste buds. The variety and quality available for "free" was amazing, and having just devoured some of the best chocolate mousse, I was in bliss! ( Rage at its best to bliss at its zenith :D)
Well, the return journey was uneventful, but I returned a tad bit smarter.
The moral of the story is not to be indifferent at a level "I do not give a damn."
The moral is to find a balance between being sweet, going out of the way to help and being indifferent.
